Summary
Goals
The UK needs an assurance capability that will enable our future digital growth ambitions and improve the cyber security of technology we use. To do this, it must be proportionate, trusted and flexible.
Our assurance services must also help to project the value of UK technology overseas, making UK manufacturers attractive in the international marketplace.
Scope
The ubiquity of connected devices means that Technology Assurance can no longer be restricted to security-focussed technologies. It must also encompass all technologies that have critical security requirements.
This increased scope means that productive and collaborative relationships with Industry Partners and other Lead Government Departments (LGDs) are essential.
Role of the NCSC
The NCSC will need to deliver assurance services for a wider range of technologies and customers than before. But, given the finite nature of our expert resources, we will have to prioritise technologies with the highest potential impact for the UK.
In our role as a National Technical Authority in cyber security, we will put in place artefacts and initiatives that enable others to verify that the technology they use is resilient to the cyber threats they face.
