4.5 Build long term resilience

Each time you test your crisis plans – or respond to actual incidents – use the experience to build stronger cyber resilience.

Make resilience planning a continuous process, not a one-time activity.

  • Practice switching between normal and crisis modes smoothly.
    • The faster you can activate alternative processes, the less disruption you'll experience.
  • Reconfigure systems during recovery to address vulnerabilities.
    • Don't simply restore to the previous state if that state enabled the compromise.
  • Learn from each crisis or exercise to improve future responses.
