Activity 2. Increase situational awareness

Monty Rakusen

Situational awareness means perceiving, understanding, and predicting events in your environment so you can make informed decisions and respond effectively to change. If the likelihood of a seriously disruptive cyber attack on your sector has increased, awareness of the threat – and how it might affect your organisation – puts you in a better position to respond quickly.

Imagine an organisation in your sector has been the victim of a deliberately destructive attack. What would you now do differently to protect your organisation and your community?

This section highlights key activities to increase your situational awareness. Some will involve revisiting and refreshing already established processes, whilst others will be entirely new.
