I've received a threatening message.

I've received an email or message threatening to release videos or images of me
- Don’t engage with the phisher – this is a scam and they do not know if you have a webcam, or what sites you have visited.
- Forward the email to [email protected], and then delete it.
- Don't worry if the message includes your password, as it is probably from an old breach of personal data. But you should change your account password immediately, and anywhere else you use the same password. See NCSC guidance on creating strong passwords.
Reporting & support
- If you have been a victim of a sextortion scam and have paid the ransom, then report it to your local police force by calling 101.
- If you need emotional support, you can get in touch with the charity Victim Support.
