The NCSC offers a range of tools & services to help you check your organisation has the fundamentals of good cyber security in place.
If your organisation has never done any kind of cyber security assessment before, checking the fundamentals is a good place to start.
This usually involves an assessment - by you or a 3rd party specialist - of your organisation’s IT setup, people and processes. This will help you see if your organisation has the recommended basic security standards in place.
This includes identifying all the digital assets in your IT estate, finding any obvious security vulnerabilities and what you need to do to resolve them.

Cyber Essentials is our government-backed certification scheme that helps keep your organisation’s and your customers’ data safe from cyber attacks.
Cyber Essentials can help every organisation – from micro businesses to large corporations – guard against the most common cyber attacks. If you have digital assets or store any data, putting the five key Cyber Essentials controls in place can help you keep it safe. That’s why the NCSC recommends Cyber Essentials as the minimum standard of cyber security for all organisations.
