Get future ready, set, go: CYBERUK 2024 theme revealed
The conference will examine how the cyber community can harness the societal benefits of emerging technologies and crucially, secure them for the future.

May 2024 will see thousands of UK and international cyber security experts descend on the West Midlands to discuss the theme “Future Tech, Future Threat, Future Ready” as part of CYBERUK, the UK government’s flagship cyber security conference.
Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden announced the theme of next year’s event in a speech to an audience at techUK on Thursday, setting out how CYBERUK 2024 will examine how the cyber community can harness the societal benefits of emerging technologies and crucially, secure them for the future.
Hosted by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), CYBERUK 2024 will bring together the intelligence community, government, industry, and academia under the roof of the ICC Birmingham to explore the entire spectrum of future cyber challenges and solutions – from AI-driven threat detection and quantum computing to secure-by-design principles.
Across a series of VIP keynotes, panels and workshops, it will ask:
- How do we build a cyber security ecosystem that can manage the threats and opportunities of the future?
- How do we ensure future technologies are secure by design, not as an afterthought?
- How do we anticipate the threat picture will change as new technologies, like AI and quantum computing, develop?
Speaking to techUK, Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden said:
“The cyber threat that the UK is facing is very real. However, our commitment to tackling the problem has never been stronger.
“Next year’s CYBERUK will be our deepest dive yet into the future of the cyber industry and our cyber security. We will look at how future technologies – like AGI and quantum computing – can revolutionise our society and help solve problems like climate change and food security, as well as how to adopt them safely.”
As part of a cross-industry and government panel at the techUK event, NCSC CEO Lindy Cameron said:
“Birmingham’s dynamic spirit mirrors the essence of CYBERUK, where innovation converges with tradition and today’s visionaries lay the groundwork for tomorrow’s secure digital landscape.
“Coming together around the theme of emerging technology and future threats, CYBERUK24 will provide a forum that empowers global thinkers and decision makers to improve our collective resilience and to pave the way for a connected world that thrives securely.

Earlier this year, CYBERUK crossed the Irish Sea to Belfast to cap off its tour of the home nations, gathering 2,300 delegates from over 38 countries for three days of networking, learning and collaboration.
While the conference has global reach and influence, its impact is felt locally too: CYBERUK 2023 contributed a £2.6 million boost to the Belfast economy.

Delegate registration for CYBERUK24 will open early in November 2023. Applications for key content packages for sponsors will close on the 4th of October, with other sponsor and exhibitor packages closing at the end of February 2024.
