Collaboration only way to respond to cyber threats says renowned tech entrepreneur
RENOWNED tech entrepreneur Hermann Hauser will this week emphasise on the importance of collaboration at a major cyber security gathering later this week.
Speaking in a pre-recorded interview at the National Cyber Security Centre’s CYBERUK conference, the co-founder of Acorn Computers will highlight the importance of collaboration between governments, industry, academia and financers in effectively responding to the latest cyber threats.
In an interview with the NCSC’s CEO Lindy Cameron to be aired at the conference in Belfast, Dr Hauser will also discuss the significance smart and autonomous products being Secure by Design.
His interview will be aired as part of a wide range of sessions over the two-day event, under the theme ‘securing an open and resilient digital future’.
In a wide-ranging discussion, the co-founder and venture partner at Amadeus Capital will say Britain has a tradition and history of leading cyber security.
He will also highlight how important having an ecosystem where different sectors can collaborate. He will say:
“If you look at all the nations in the world that have a working innovation system, it is all based on the interaction of universities, the government, and the finance community. It’s a team sport, I always say that.
“If technology startups are a team sport, you’ve got to have all these players working together.
“Cyber security is becoming a much more important part of the whole ecosystem. It needs especially close cooperation between government, finance, and the tech community.”
Discussing how innovative technology companies and startups will help grow the UK economy, he will say:
“Innovative companies, and in particular deep technology companies, is really where the growth in the economy is going to come from.
“We’re not going to get it from traditional sectors, it has to come from innovative breakthroughs that come out of universities or big research labs. The ecosystems that now exist, are the bases that allow you to build these companies much faster now than ever before.
“We’ve just had the most spectacular example of that in Chat GPT, which went from zero to one million users in a week or so.”
