The Rt Hon George Osborne MP visits GCHQ headquarters in Cheltenham and announces measures for better national cyber defence.

The Chancellor of the Exchequer, the Rt Hon George Osborne MP, visited GCHQ headquarters in Cheltenham today and addressed staff and invited guests. His speech can be found here.

The Chancellor began by addressing the recent attacks in Paris and the Government's response. Turning to cyber security, the Chancellor announced a series of measures for better national cyber defence, additional funding for cyber security, and a new National Cyber Centre.


Please note: since this speech, the National Cyber Centre (NCC) has been formally renamed to the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC)
